If that happened, that is totally wrong in ANY situation. Making fun of someone because of a disability is never acceptable.

If at anytime a situation like this occurs, I would recommend that you give the lowest rating for sportsmanship and write a note on the back of the scoresheet as to why.

The office will then review the note and address the issue. The office will either address it directly, or they may bring it to the Board of Governers. The Board of Governer's for the CTAPA is a committee of Peers (mostly comprised of Division Reps) which reviews protests and other situations.

I am interested in knowing more details of what kind of disability and what was said!

In any case I do believe that a team should be warned of their wrong doing before taking any action like removing them from the league.

Before anyone else comments on this, I want to let you know that the other team has been contacted. I never pass judgement until I hear both sides of the stories. Their initial response was one of disbelief. They claimed to have applauded the player in question when he won the match and everyone shook hands. I will be talking to the captain in the next few days.

Thank you for holding your comments,

Bruce

The player that made the comment should be ejected from the APA.That is not only Unsportsman like but just plain cruel. My mom always said dont make fun of people with diasbilitys. It could happen to you. At the very least the insulting player should at minimum be suspended.I also though I dont know the player with the dissability. Kudos to you for bringing on the kick azzz.Send me a friend request anytime.

In 50 plus years of knocking balls around(I have been disabled for 8 years), rarely have I been anywhere a collection of strokers congregate, without getting a yuk out of the style, mannerisms (quirks), and attire of players...Hard as it may be to believe, some people don't give a rat's rump where and when their verbage is appropriate or wanted...Consider the source...Appropriate reaction should'nt be confrontation...As Bruce said, let the Dirty Laundry Department sort and iron out the problems

but keep it to using the balls on the table, where beating them with a poolstick belongs

From my 10 years of experience in the APA, the league usually puts up with a lot of abuse from those occasion people that make a pattern of disrupting their matches. The repeat offenders receive endless warnings and eventually they are kicked out if their behavior does not improve. Since APA is a business, the front office will be faster at remediating a person-out-of-line if your team threatens to quit. Another idea is to tape a match with one of those small hidden cameras. You can say that you intially wanted your teammate to be shown his or her match on tape for tips. However, somehow the opponent is nasty and out-of-line. Just make a copy of the tape and send it to Bruce for review.
